Gaming limits and self-restriction tools
Every licensed operator must let you set binding limits before you play. Limits are a normal part of safe play, not a sign of a problem — set them in advance, while the decision is easy.

What limits you can set
The law requires licensed operators to offer the following self-restriction tools to every player. They apply across the operator's whole offer and cannot be bypassed by opening a new account.
| Tool | What it restricts | Where it applies | Takes effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Deposit limit | Money paid in per day / week / month | One operator | Immediately when lowered |
| Loss limit | Net losses over a chosen period | One operator | Immediately when lowered |
| Time limit | Length and frequency of sessions | One operator | Immediately when lowered |
| Self-exclusion register | All access to licensed gambling | Every licensed operator | On registration |
| Panic button | All play for 48 hours | The operator where pressed | Instantly |
Deposit and loss limits
A deposit limit caps how much money you can transfer to your player account in a given period; a loss limit caps how much you can lose net of winnings. Both are set in your account settings and confirmed by the operator in writing.
- Choosing a sensible amount
- Decide on an amount you can afford to lose entirely — entertainment money, never funds needed for bills or savings.
- Lowering a limit
- A reduction always takes effect immediately, on every licensed site.
- Raising a limit
- An increase only takes effect after a statutory cooling-off period, so a spur-of-the-moment decision cannot raise it instantly.
Time and session limits
Time limits restrict how long you can stay logged in and playing. Licensed operators must also display the elapsed session time on screen and interrupt play with reality-check notifications.
- Daily and monthly playing-time caps you define yourself
- Automatic log-out when the limit is reached
- On-screen clock showing session length during play
- Mandatory breaks after extended continuous sessions
Self-exclusion register
The national self-exclusion register is a single list that blocks access to every licensed operator at once. Entry is free of charge and can be requested by the player; in defined cases, entry follows automatically from law.
Who can register
Any adult player, at their own request, without giving a reason.
What it blocks
Registration, login and depositing at every nationally licensed operator.
How long it lasts
For a chosen minimum period; removal requires an explicit request after that period ends.
Panic button: instant 48-hour exclusion
Every licensed gambling site must display a clearly visible panic button. Pressing it ends your session at once and blocks your account for 48 hours — no questions, no delay, no way to undo it early. It is designed for the moment you feel play is getting away from you.
How to change or remove limits
- Open the responsible-gaming or limits section of your player account at the licensed operator.
- Tightening a limit (lower amount, shorter time) applies immediately.
- Loosening or removing a limit only takes effect after the statutory waiting period — typically several days — to rule out impulse decisions.
- Self-exclusion entries are managed through the official register, not through the operator.
