Player-protection duties apply only to operators holding a valid national license. Unlicensed sites are bound by none of the rules below.

Operators' responsible-gaming principles

Responsible gaming starts with the operator. Licensed operators commit to a shared set of principles that put prevention ahead of revenue from at-risk players.

  • Gambling is presented as paid entertainment, never as a source of income.
  • Information about limits and self-exclusion is shown before and during play.
  • Staff are trained to recognise risky behaviour and to respond with help, not offers.
  • Advertising avoids minors, vulnerable groups and any urgency or winning promises.

What operators must comply with by law

The national gambling act and the regulator's decrees impose binding obligations on every license holder. Breaches can lead to fines or loss of the license.

Obligation What it means for the player
Age and identity verification No play before identity is confirmed; minors are excluded.
Binding deposit, loss and time limits Limits must be offered and several must be set before the first bet.
Self-exclusion register check Registered players cannot open accounts or deposit anywhere licensed.
Panic button Visible on every screen; one press blocks the account for 48 hours.
Session clock and reality checks Elapsed playing time stays on screen and play is interrupted by notices.
Segregated player funds Deposits are held separately from the operator's own money.

What operators do beyond the regulation

Several licensed operators go further than the law requires. These voluntary measures are reviewed annually and published in their responsible-gaming reports.

Analytical early-warning tools that flag risky play patterns and trigger a duty-of-care contact.

Funding the helpline

Voluntary contributions keep the national helpline and online counselling free of charge.

Staff certification

Front-line employees complete accredited training in recognising and addressing problem gambling.

The operators below hold a valid national license and have additionally signed the voluntary responsible-gaming code. The list is informational; signing the code does not change the legal duties that apply to every license holder.
